Derrick L. Thompson, DDS, is a cosmetic, restorative, and family dentist who practices in Beverly Grove, Los Angeles. He has more than 25 years of experience practicing dentistry.
Dr. Thompson was born in the small Louisiana town of Bogalusa. When he was two, his family moved to California so that he and his sister could get the best possible education.
Ironically, Dr. Thompson eventually returned to the South to complete his education. He completed his first two years of undergrad at the University of California, Berkeley, but he decided it was best to transfer to Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana. He majored in biology at Grambling and decided to pursue dentistry.
After college, Dr. Thompson attended Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville, Tennessee. After obtaining his dentistry degree at the age of 26, he joined the United States Navy Dental Corps, where he expanded on his education, developed leadership skills, and learned how to help patients feel comfortable and relaxed even in the most challenging conditions.
